1k Camera?
Strange name at first glance but his community centers around two beliefs:
- You don’t need to spend – Camera and lens must be under $1,000
- You don’t need to spend a lot of money on photography equipment to get great photos
- Entry level cameras today are better than pro grade cameras from years ago
- The more expensive the gear is, the more protective over it you will be
- Lighter is better – Camera and lens must be under 1,000 grams (1Kg / 2.2lbs / 25oz)
- The lighter your equipment, the more likely you’ll take it with you
- The more you take it with you, the more you’re likely to use it
- The more you use it the faster your skills will improve
Due to the amount of content on the net that gushes over the latest and greatest, you might not realize it, but you don’t need brand new, high end camera to take great photos. Think about it, the entry level cameras of today are beyond the specification of a pro level camera in the past, and those pro level cameras from the past are veritable bargains today on the used market.
This community is all about enjoying photography on a budget, covering cameras from $50 all the way to $1,000 max. New or used. We also understand that heavier equipment gets in the way and gets used a lot less. The camera and lens should be no more than 1,000 grams max.
Most importantly we want to help people moving up from smartphones to real cameras to understand what they may or may not want to spend their money on.
The photographer makes the photo, not the camera.
